| Notes | The text is presented as a letter to French printer Antoine Vitré (1595-1674). After Sorbière's defense of travel in 'De l'utilité des voyages', the formerly sceptical Vitré is now convinced that he should travel, and this letter provides him with miscellaneous advice about travel preparations and suitable behavior while abroad.
