| Biographical Notes | Genealogist, best known for his 'Peerage' and 'Baronage'. Son of William Collins, a gentleman usher to Charles II's consort, Queen Catherine of Braganza. Though describing himself as a printer or bookseller, Collins was an assured and diligent scholar and researcher, and a prolific compiler and editor. His 'Letters and Memorials of State' made use of the papers of the Sydney family. See ODNB. |
