Jury of the prize contest at the Academy of Lyon

Biographical NotesThe jury consisted of the following members:
- president: abbé Louis Jacquet (1732-1793) studied theology, but was not ordained, and practiced as a lawyer in Lyon, won several prize contests
- first rapporteur: Jean-Espérence Blondine, count Laurencin (1740-1812). From a family of military nobility, started a literary career following a serious injury. He won a poetical contest in 1771 and continued to write, but was also an early traveller in Montgolfier’s aerostat in 1784, and reported on the occasion
- Pierre Antoine Barou (Barou de Soleil, 1742-1793), Lyon-based lawyer, was among the most active members of the Lyon academy, working in particular on questions of literature and moral
- Thomas Merle de Castillon (1745-1793), Lyon-based clergyman, believed in the unity of natural and human sciences-
Fleury-Zachary-Simon Palerne de Savy (1733-?), coming from a rich and influential family of the noblesse de robe, had very little visible production within the Academy.
