| Biographical Notes | German scholar and poet. Professor of Latin in Rostock from 1564-1593, when he was forced to leave this position on account of his Calvinism. Brother of David Chythraeus, major theologian of the Reformation. Nathan Chythraeus was an important figure of North German late Humanism. After completing a Bildungsreise in 1565-67 he was particularly famous as author and compiler of collections of travel texts. |
