Hermann Conring

Biographical NotesGerman neo-Aristotelian scholar of law and medicine. One of the most respected intellectual figures of his time. Studied in Helmstedt and Leiden. Conring became a professor of natural philosophy in Helmstedt in 1632, medicine in 1636, and in politics in 1650. Councilor and physician to Queen Christina of Sweden 1650-60, and a council member in Denmark from 1669. He was among the founders of the German statistical Staatskunde.
