Biographical NotesHistorian. Little is known about his personal life. He claims in a letter to have had 'a frequent residence in France'. His most famous work is ‘History of the War with America, France, Spain, and Holland, commencing in 1775 and ending in 1783, four vols., London, 1785–86. His works of history are mostly compiled.
